WORKSHOP SHEDULE
Background
The complex relationship between people and animals has long been discussed, particularly in terms of welfare and ethical treatment. As the global society recognises the need to provide a good quality of life for all animals, it is critical to develop discussions that address current issues and promote best practices in animal welfare.
The upcoming workshop in the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Science(FVMAS), Gazipur Agricultural University (GAU), with the theme “All Animals Deserve a Good Life: Understanding Animal Behaviour as a Pathway to Enhanced Animal Welfare”, will bring together stakeholders from a variety of sectors, including academia, government, non-governmental organisations, and the corporate sector. This event aims to provide a forum for sharing knowledge, experiences, and methods to enhance animal welfare.
Bangladesh's diverse biodiversity and rising urbanisation present distinct difficulties and opportunities in animal care. Livestock management, companion animal care, and wildlife protection are all issues that demand coordinated efforts and imaginative solutions. This workshop will delve into these issues, emphasising the need for a complete approach that includes scientific research, policy development, community engagement, and education.
We hope to inspire participants to share their thoughts and collaborate on developing long-term solutions that improve animal welfare in Bangladesh and elsewhere through presentations in the workshops, and discussions. The ultimate goal is to foster a comprehensive understanding of what constitutes a "good life" for animals, which includes not just necessities but also psychological well-being, social connection, and environmental enrichment.
In line with worldwide animal welfare initiatives, this session is a crucial step towards raising the norms and practices that govern how animals are treated in our cultures. By connecting with a variety of perspectives and experiences, we seek to inspire a shared commitment to improving the lives of all animals.
Aims and objectives of the 6th ISAE Animal Welfare Workshop (2025) in Gazipur
The fundamental goal of these workshops is to bring together professionals, researchers, and practitioners from various backgrounds to collaborate and improve animal welfare standards. This workshop aims to accomplish the following specific objectives:

2. Capacity Building: Participants will be equipped with the skills needed to effectively advocate for and execute animal welfare programmes in their communities and organisations.

3. Policy Advocacy: Discuss the significance of supportive policies and frameworks for animal welfare, and encourage stakeholder collaboration to influence policy changes at the local and national levels.

4. Raising Awareness: Increase public knowledge and comprehension of animal welfare issues, as well as the concept of a "good life" for animals, with a focus on both ethical and practical consequences.

5. Collaboration and Networking: Create networking opportunities for participants to form collaborations, share resources, and work together on future projects focused at improving animal welfare standards in Bangladesh and the area.
By achieving these objectives, the workshop will help to build a social movement towards a more compassionate and informed society, ensuring that all animals receive the respect, care, and well-being they deserve.
